About Pillsbury

Starting with a few flour mills on the banks of the Mississippi River in 1869, Pillsbury has been helping families make memories through food for nearly 150 years. And we continue that tradition today, bringing easy, freshly baked meals to your table with our crescents, biscuits, pie crust, cinnamon rolls and cookie products (with help from the Pillsbury Doughboy, of course!).

Our Mission

At Pillsbury, we believe in helping families make memories through food, from spending time together around the kitchen table to creating new baking traditions. We strive to make those homemade moments extra special through our products and recipes, which help make cooking and baking easy, affordable and convenient for even the busiest days. Along with our parent company, General Mills, we want to serve the world by making food people love, and hope that our content (from recipes and videos to tutorials and email newsletters) helps you turn those everyday food moments into lifelong memories you’ll cherish.

Pillsbury Through the Years

We’ve been making Pillsbury products for a long time! And it all started with Charles Pillsbury in 1869 on the banks of the Mississippi River in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Since then, pivotal moments in Pillsbury’s history have transformed it into what it is today: the invention of the technology for Pillsbury cans in 1931 (pop!), the first Pillsbury Bake-Off® Contest in 1949, the birth of our beloved Pillsbury Doughboy in 1965 along with the introduction of classic Pillsbury crescent rolls, and so many more. Pillsbury even won the Guinness World Record for the most cookies/biscuits iced in one hour (1,169, in case you were curious!).

Fast forward to present day, and a can of crescents is sold every 0.18 seconds in the United States, Americans bake over 17,000 batches of Pillsbury cookies per hour during the Christmas season, and four million fluffy, golden Pillsbury biscuits are enjoyed in American homes every day (that’s equal to the entire population of Los Angeles). That’s a whole lotta dough!

Pillsbury is a Trusted Source

For a century and a half, Pillsbury has proudly served multiple generations of American families by delivering high-quality products and easy, delicious recipes, and that standard hasn’t changed. In fact, Pillsbury is now a top-five food content website, and in 2018, Business Insider reported that Pillsbury is one of the top 25 brands that millennials love the most.

With nearly 15,000 recipes on our site and millions of visitors to Pillsbury.com (246 million people in 2017 alone!), Pillsbury is your trusted source for easy, fast, and supremely delicious meal ideas.

The Pillsbury Doughboy

The Pillsbury Doughboy was “born” on November 7, 1965, and stands 8.75” tall (including his hat!). You probably know him best by his signature “hoo hoo!” He’s never without his chef’s hat and handkerchief, and can be seen happily helping out Pillsbury cooks in the kitchen. Poppin’ Fresh is pretty popular—at one point, he was receiving 200 fan letters a week!

The Pillsbury Bake-Off® Contest

From its inception in 1949 to present day, the Bake-Off® Contest is one of Pillsbury’s most popular and storied legacies. Famous dishes like the Bundt cake and Christmas cookie classic peanut blossoms became the icons they are today because of home cooks participating in the Pillsbury Bake-Off® Contest, along with hundreds more creative desserts, dinners, breakfasts and appetizers. Fun fact: You’re 18,500 times more likely to win the Pillsbury Bake-Off® Contest than the lottery.
