These are the basic steps to make a Country French Apple Crescent Casserole. When you’re ready to start making this Pillsbury Bake-Off® finalist recipe, see full instructions below.
In a small bowl, combine 2 tablespoons of sugar and 1/2 to 1 teaspoon of cinnamon.
Separate the crescent dough into 8 triangles and sprinkle cinnamon sugar evenly over each. Gently press sugar mixture into each triangle, flattening each piece slightly.
Place an apple slice on the shortest side of each triangle, and tuck the edges of the dough around the apple slice. Roll up, starting at the shortest side and rolling to the opposite point. Seal all seams. Then, place rolls point side down in an ungreased 9-inch round baking dish or pie plate, placing the long side of 7 filled crescents around the outside edge of the dish and 1 in the center.
Bake the rolls at 375°F for 15 to 20 minutes or until golden brown. Remove the baking dish from the oven.
In a small bowl, beat all the sauce ingredients with a wire whisk until well blended. Spoon sauce evenly over partially baked rolls. Sprinkle them with almonds and cinnamon.
Return to the oven and bake for an additional 13 to 18 minutes or until deep golden brown. Serve warm.

You can eat this dessert cold out of the refrigerator, if desired. You can also warm by microwaving for about 1 minute, adding 30-second increments until warmed through.

Heat oven to 375°F. In small bowl, combine 2 tablespoons sugar and 1/2 to 1 teaspoon cinnamon; mix well. Separate dough into 8 triangles; sprinkle sugar mixture evenly over each. Gently press sugar mixture into each triangle, flattening each slightly.

Place apple slice on shortest side of each triangle; tuck in edges around apple slice. Roll up, starting at shortest side and rolling to opposite point. Seal all seams. Place point side down in ungreased 9-inch round baking dish or pie plate, placing long side of 7 filled crescents around outside edge of dish and 1 in center.

Bake at 375°F for 15 to 20 minutes or until golden brown.

Remove baking dish from oven. In small bowl, combine all sauce ingredients; beat with wire whisk until well blended. Spoon sauce evenly over partially baked rolls. Sprinkle with almonds and cinnamon.

Return to oven; bake an additional 13 to 18 minutes or until deep golden brown. If necessary, cover with foil during last 5 minutes of baking to prevent excessive browning. Serve warm. Store in refrigerator.

It’s important to pinch the edges of the dough together to keep the filling inside the rolls. This also infuses the spices into the apple and ensures that it doesn’t dry out.
Arrange each piece as needed to fit them in the dish you’re using. Sometimes diagonal arrangement helps to evenly fill the dish.
