This recipe comes together with just a few ingredients. The result is positively thrillifying!
Pillsbury™ Grands!™ Cinnamon Rolls with Original Icing: An ideal base for this gooey, moist treat. Pillsbury™ Grands!™ Cinnamon Rolls are easy to work with and help the muffins stay together.
Bananas: Ripe bananas add a ton of flavor to your monkey bread. Plus, they add a lot of moisture to keep your muffins nice and gooey.
Mini Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips: A little bit of chocolate with banana is a classic flavor combination for a reason! Semi-sweet chocolate chips bring lovely cocoa flavor without making the dish too sweet or syrupy.
Other Ingredients: Brown sugar adds rich sweetness and helps with caramelization. Additionally, it adds a depth of flavor that simple white sugar can’t achieve. The butter helps moisten and enhance browning to create a slightly crisp, golden exterior.
Properly greasing the muffin cups helps the bananas to caramelize without sticking to the pan and sets the foundation for the rest of the dish. Cut the banana into coins, and put them in the bottoms of the greased muffin cups for best results.
Each of your 5 Pillsbury™ Grands!™ Cinnamon Rolls should be quartered and flattened so that you can easily add the remaining banana pieces to the middle.
Roll each of the cinnamon roll pieces in brown sugar, and create a butter-brown sugar mixture to drizzle on top. This ensures that the muffins are coated in the good stuff.
Bake the muffins in a 350°F oven for about 15 minutes or until golden brown. Let the pan cool before serving.
Drizzle the cinnamon roll icing from the can over the muffins before serving.
We recommend eating this treat the day you make it for best results. If needed, store leftovers in an airtight container on the counter for up to 3 days.
We do not recommend storing leftovers in the refrigerator. The change in temperature could make the bread soggy and ruin the texture.

For best results, eat at room temperature without reheating. If desired, you can microwave on High for about 1 minute.

Heat oven to 350°F. Spray 5 jumbo-size muffin cups with cooking spray.

Cut one banana into 1/4-inch thick coins and place 3 to 4 banana slices in a single layer on the bottom of each greased muffin cup. Cut remaining banana into 20 equal-size pieces.

Separate dough into 5 cinnamon rolls; cut each into quarters and flatten into rounds. Stuff each round with one banana piece and 1/2 teaspoon mini chocolate chips, pinching ends to seal dough around filling.

Roll cinnamon roll pieces in 2 tablespoons of the brown sugar. Place 4 dough pieces, seam side down in each jumbo muffin cup; add remaining mini chocolate chips.

In small bowl, mix remaining 2 tablespoons brown sugar with melted butter; pour over each muffin cup.

Bake 15 to 18 minutes or until monkey bread pieces are golden brown. Cool in pan 5 minutes.

Carefully turn upside down onto serving plate. Drizzle cinnamon roll icing over warm monkey bread muffins and serve.

For the best results, keep the cinnamon roll dough cold until you're ready to start preparing your monkey bread recipe. Cold dough is easier to work with, and if it gets too soft, just pop it back in the fridge for a few minutes. This simple step makes it much easier to toss the cinnamon roll pieces in brown sugar and arrange them in the pan.
If the monkey bread is browning too quickly but isn’t fully baked, loosely cover the top with aluminum foil. This will prevent further browning while allowing the bread to bake evenly.
Monkey bread is best served fresh and warm the day it is made.
We tested these pull-apart muffins with jumbo muffin cups. Keep in mind, muffin pans and cup sizes can vary. It’s a good idea to place a large piece of heavy-duty foil on the lower oven rack to catch any butter or sugar that may bubble over while baking.
